Bali

Bali is a seaside village on the northern coastline of Crete in the prefecture of Rethymno, ideally situated approx. 32 kilometers east of Rethymno and 40 km west of of Heraklion. The origin for the name of the village was the Turkish word balik, meaning fish. Today Bali beautifully combines a traditionally old fishing village with a wide range of facilities for its visitors. You can find small coves with beautiful beaches and crystal waters, all kinds of water sports, several lovely taverns serving fresh fish and other traditional specialties and cafes. Although it has been developed to a popular tourist resort, it still preserves its traditional character. Here, one can either enjoy the famous traditional Cretan cuisine or the cosmopolitan cocktails offered at the local sea view bars, discos and cafeterias. There are also some souvenir shops, mini markets, a medical center, a pharmacy and a diving school.
